About this site

I’m not a natural blogger — since 2000, this is my sixth try at a site. I always saw the site competing with my novel, and I worried I had nothing else to say. My own favorite sites are those of hobbyists and writers with specialized interests. Other than a deeper facility with computers than most people and a knack for languages, I have no expertise to share. I am a proud generalist.

I do have an unusual life, however. I traveled America in my youth, and shared my short happy Internet career with many sharp people in six world cities, plus a few poly-cultural people shuttling between them. I’ve been an active donor and volunteer in Washington theater, on projects from construction to fundraising to reading fifty new plays a year.

My novel has likewise turned into a big book, with an outsize theme of human and divine, in a 21st Century built on the 14th. I am also learning a lot by trying to sell it.

So much of this site not directly connected to the marketing of my first novel will derive from what’s inside it. I’m going to write short index card points on issues the book raises, without much direct reference to the book, to clarify my thoughts or hear others. I hope to throw in a few surprises — once upon a time, I had a knack for sonnets too, though children’s books are making me speak in quatrains more often than couplets.

Anyway. Hello and welcome.
